🧈 Our take: Both platforms provide an easy way to drive donations on your website. But with Givebutter, you can create social fundraising pages, engage your supporters in real-time, host events and auctions, and accept donations from lots of different payment methods (including PayPal—no account required), all in one convenient place.
Givebutter is a free, all-in-one fundraising platform that anyone can use to raise funds for good causes.
Unlike PayPal, there are no time constraints or donation limits for fundraising—just all the tools you need to drive donations, engage supporters, and track donor information, all in one place.
More than just a digital wallet for online shopping, many nonprofits and individuals use PayPal to accept donations for fundraisers and crowdfunding campaigns.
While PayPal users are limited to standard donation pages, Givebutter offers 100+ world-class features and integrations—including PayPal donations—to take your fundraiser to the next level.
Givebutter is free thanks to optional donor tips.

Givebutter leads the pack in user satisfaction
Givebutter is ranked as the #1 software for fundraising, donor management, and auctions on G2, the largest independent software review site.
We were using PayPal as our online platform, and many folks just did not trust it. A huge benefit to Givebutter is the variety of ways to give as well as the option to create an easy text-to-give code, sell tickets, and more. SO MUCH GOOD STUFF. Givebutter is not only easy; it makes it very easy to pass on the fees for credit cards to our contributors—or not. They have the choice of covering! Not only can we accept credit, but PayPal and VENMO, which is super important to our younger donors. All of this, and no fees. Zero. No hidden anything.
